Third Thursday Brown Bag Lunch Program
April 20th, 2017
“The Wreck of the Schooner Marvel”
The Calvert County Historical Society’s Brown Bag Lunch Program on Thursday, March 16th will feature CCHS Board Member Diane Harrison giving an encore performance of the program that packed the North Beach Volunteer Fire Department Center in 2015. This is the true story of the 6-day “pleasure cruise” sailing out of Annapolis which met disaster when it collided with Hurricane Connie in the Chesapeake Bay. As the gale force winds of the hurricane raged, the Schooner Levin J. Marvel shipwrecked just off North Beach. Twenty-seven passengers and crew were on board. Only 13 survived. Join us as Diane tells us about the local heroes and local responders who risked their lives to rescue many of the passengers and how the community came together that terrible night on August 15, 1955.
Join Us at Noon, at Linden, 70 Church Street. Bring your Lunch, Bring your Questions, and Bring Your Friends! Free and Open to All.
