“Freedom Day From the River to the Bay”

    Catherine Couchman

You’ve heard about Lower Marlboro Freedom Day, but did you know that enslaved African Americans from all over Calvert County joined the British in 1814? CCHS Volunteer Catherine Couchman will discuss those other slaves who decided to leave and their owners who fought for their return and later, compensation from the British for their loss.
